Take in the lagoon from the viewpoint before deciding whether you also want a separate outing down to the water. It can be combined with a Masaya excursion if the driving route and available time make sense.
How to plan access
Confirm the approach to Catarina and transport back, especially if using a hired vehicle. A visit to the viewpoint does not automatically include transport to a lagoon-side establishment; these are different routes.
