Apoyo Lagoon: viewpoints, shore access and day trips
Apoyo Lagoon is a protected area between Granada and Masaya. A viewpoint visit and a stay by the water require different routes, so decide what experience you want before arranging transport.
What you can experience
Enjoy crater scenery from viewpoints, relax at a lagoon-side facility where visitor access is permitted, or select a locally operated activity. The lagoon works well as an excursion from Granada, Masaya or Catarina without necessarily changing accommodation.
How to plan access
Confirm whether your driver is taking you to a viewpoint, a reserve entrance or a specific business on the shore. If using public transport, plan the final leg and return rather than assuming the same service goes to every access point.
