What to see in Masaya: volcano, markets and Catarina views
The Masaya region is known for the active Masaya Volcano National Park, artisan markets, Monimbó and the traditional towns and viewpoints of the Meseta de los Pueblos. These attractions offer different cultural and natural experiences.
Main places to see
Discover crafts and the Monimbó area, then choose a separate visit to Catarina or another viewpoint. The active volcano is a protected site where official safety decisions, not an ordinary sightseeing schedule, control access.
How to get around
Confirm the location of each market, the route towards Catarina and official visitor access at the volcano park. A visit to a viewpoint is not the same as going down to Apoyo Lagoon's shore.
Before you travel
Never assume that visitors can approach an active crater. Check official volcano notices, market hours and any entrance conditions and maintain an alternative plan if access is restricted.
