Explore Carazo
Carazo Department includes the urban centres of Diriamba and Jinotepe as well as Pacific destinations such as La Boquita, Casares and Huehuete. Its coastal nature sites are distinct from the towns inland.
What to see
Explore an urban centre first, then choose a particular beach or protected coastal area. Chacocente deserves an approach respectful of wildlife, while the beaches have their own road entrances and services.

Things to do
Explore Diriamba or Jinotepe, then plan a separate trip towards the beaches. Chacocente Wildlife Refuge is a protected natural area and requires attention to current visitor and conservation rules.

Getting there and around
Confirm whether your actual destination is a town, La Boquita, Casares, Huehuete or the refuge before hiring transport. Different beach entrances and rural roads may require different arrangements.
Before your visit
Check surf and swimming safety, any seasonal wildlife restrictions and current facilities. Do not assume all Carazo beaches are equally accessible or suited to the same activities.
